RECESSION PROOF BUILDING PROJECTS!
Should you move, or improve?
It's worth remembering that if a house doesn't work for you, it won't work for a future purchaser either.
If the kitchen or lounge is too small or you can't access the garden, then that will be an issue - or even a deal breaker - for a future purchaser, so addressing these issues will be money well spent.
GOOD DESIGNGood design is fundamental to successful building work. Homeowners have often thought long and hard about what they would like to do and tend to have strongly fixed ideas. However its important that they work closely with their builder, designer or architect and are prepared to listen to their advice. designers and builders will listen to what the customer wants and translate it into the best design.
GET THE BALANCE RIGHTMany people think that adding a bedroom will automatically add value to their home, but its important to get the balance right, matching living space with bedroom space. Many people who want a ground floor extension feel they should add another bedroom above, but often they and the house don't need another bedroom.
Try to address the link between the kitchen/dining room and the garden. Consider using folded glazed doors to bring the garden into the living space. A light open aspect space will not only add to your enjoyment, but will also attract future purchasers.
DO IT PROPERLY!Don't scrimp by choosing the cheapest builders or materials as this will be reflected in the success of the project. If you want a good quality build, you must invest time and money to find the right design, builders and materials.
